Recap 2008

I thought I'd be a fashionable blogger by following in many of your footsteps and doing a 2008 recap. For what I thought was a fairly straightforward year...holy moley a lot happened.

1. January...just finding out that I am, in fact pregnant again. We are very shocked. It takes a few months to sink in. Open my very own Etsy shop...people actually buy my stuff!
2. February...cold and snowy. Get screwed out of a $9000.00 (you read that right) tax return by the IRS after they first "lose" all our personal information (can you say identity theft?), second decide we are in fact "non-resident-residents" whatever that means and third get told by Big's accountant that if we try to actually get what is owed us, the IRS will blacklist us for the rest of our lives. Welcome to the USofA.
3. March...Scrunt turns one and we consume a lot of cupcakes and juice. Scrunt likes cupcakes!
4. April...3 birthdays in this month. I am 33, Thing One is 8 and Thing Two is 5. Again, there is copious amounts of Safeway delicacies with 18 inches of icing...forget to buy Thing Two a birthday cake, thank goodness he won one at his school fair!
5. May...Big turns 35, he doesn't seem too worried about it. At the end of the month we venture out on the holiday from hell which includes horrible flights complete with flight attendant I'd like to strangle, lost bags, Thing One smashing his neck which results in no ability to talk, non-sleeping, falling down the stairs Scrunt, projectile (insert bodily fluid here) Thing Two, Alaska Airlines steals our iPods...we vow never to travel again. Tired tired tired me. Issue of BPA makes me take a hard look at plastic. "For shame Tupperware..." becomes me most read post ever.
6. June...return home to a rainy Alaska. In fact it never stopped raining for 4 months and we had the GIANT lawn mushrooms to prove it (think Little Shop of Horrors). Our new roof is complete, finally.
7. July...still raining but we get a brief reprieve when C-girl comes to visit from Canada. My best friend of life puts up with me for three days of shopping, catching up, hotel-ing, boat tripping, and eating. MADE my summer.
8. August...get the house painted in the only week it doesn't pour rain. Thing One starts third grade and Thing Two starts Kindergarten. The house is quiet. Poor Scrunt misses his brothers. Finally cut that kid off the bottle..replaced by a cup. Sheesh.
9. September...cold and rainy. Sick sick sick...everyone is sick and both our toilets break. Thanks IDLPO & the SKEEZ! The month culminates with my credit getting stolen...lovely.
10. October...Smudgie formerly known as Runt is born. While he is my heaviest and longest baby at birth, he seems like the smallest. We need HELP! Grandma (in law) to the rescue.
11. November...juggling life. No sleep. Crazy Scrunt. Cats are driving me crazy.
12. December...the month to end all months. Have a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism. Get admitted to hospital, don't drop dead. We need HELP! Grandma to the rescue! Christmas wraps it all up.

SO long 2008...couldn't be happier to see you go. K.
